An Indian Buffet and all that Chaat :) @ Grand Barbeque Restaurant

Just4tastebuds visited the Grand Barbeque Restaurant for an Indian Buffet to experiment everything desi :) Arrived early at about 8.20 pm too early for a weekend.
On my arrival, I was welcomed by Mr. Naeem the Manager for Grand Barbeque Restaurant who took me around the buffet area for a brief look at everything the buffet has to offer right from chaat, salads, Japanese, the live food counters, the main course, and finally the desserts and sweets.

Grand Barbeque Restaurant is not only for people who love their meats but for the ones who love their veggies too so it caters not only to the non-vegetarians but also vegetarians.

Drinks: variety of  cocktails are available I chose the recommended Thanda masala soda. Was it good! I am not sure 😉 I ended up having 2 of them  so you should try it too.

Starters: Ready Set and Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • For starters, I had the Chaat Platter which is a mix of Pani Puri, Dahi Puri, Szechuan Puri and a Sev Puri: the Szechuan puri is recommended.
  • Noodle Chaat ( I would have preferred if the noodle was the fresh soft noodles instead of fried noodles just sprinkled on the chaat), Bhel Puri, Palak ki chaat, Paapri chaat: The Palak ki chaat is worth a try
  • A Kebab Platter a mix of meats marinated for 12 hours in a marinade making the meat nice and soft and high on taste. The Kebab platter is a mix of Mutton seek Kebab, Hariyali Fish Kebab, Malai Boti kebab, and a traditional Tandoori tikka served with mint chutney, tamarind sauce, tomato and chilly sauce and a mayo sauce: Totally recommended
  • Chingari Prawns a desi take on prawns deep fried in batter and served with a mayo sauce, Chilly chicken, and a corn starter. if Prawns is what you love do give the chingari prawns a try.
Live stations: The Grand Barbeque Restaurant does offer live stations for Italian, Japanese, Ice creams and chaat counters, so all you got to do is visit the live counter and order what you need.
I had the arrabbiata pasta, Teppanyaki mutton Liver a Japanese dish, Dimsums and yes you did hear me right a hajmolah ice cream which is basically a vanilla ice cream mixed with crushed hajmolah and drizzled with jal jeera syrup, I won't divulge more on it as I need you to taste it as well.

As you walk through the buffet area you will see little jars with a variety of homemade pickles which you can taste right from raw mango, beans, cauliflower, carrot, gooseberry, cabbage and chilly.

Main course Meals: Grand Barbeque does display a variety of food, both vegetarian and Non-vegetarian but of them, I tried the butter chicken, haleem garnished with chilies, ginger julliens and fried onions, birbali khichdi, Paneer Lababdar, Harabhara kebab and aloo tikki. The Haleem is what you have to taste and its recommended.

Desserts: Now as the prophecy goes no matter how stuffed you are there is always room for sweets and desserts :) these are some of them I did try: Mishti doi , fruit jelly, bhalu shai, and freshly made hot jalebis really crisp and yummy !!!!!! SLURP !!!!!!!!

Note : Grand Barbeque Restaurant is Indian in approach and the flavors will definitely satisfy  your desi tastebuds .If you wish to try an alternate dish apart from desi food then there is a live station offering Italian & Japanese cuisine.
